On
the first floor, the Hall of the Four Heavenly Kings enshrines
Bodhisattva Maitreya (the future Buddha), Bodhisattva Wei Tuo
(the temple guardian), and 18 arhats (saints).
Among the largest in the world, the Four Heavenly Kings, each
12 meters high, stand in four corners, instilling awe and inspiration
in all the onlookers. Each king's head has the faces of all
four kings. This "one in four and four in one" design
is a seamless unification of Buddhist symbolism, art, and ingenious
design. |
